To facilitate corporate patronage in Southeast Asia, the Association for Corporate Support of the Arts (KMK) conducts related research, mutual communication, cooperative symposiums, etc. It held the "Art, Culture, and Creative Society -The Role of Corporations, and ASEAN Network"- Jakarta Conference in March 2016 and Tokyo Conference in May 2016. Interest in corporate patronage is growing in Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore in recent years, and it is starting to be implemented in these countries. This project aims to contribute to the development of corporate patronage in these countries by introducing past results from long years of corporate patronage in Japan, and also to build private-sector cultural promotion platforms in the ASEAN region.

From the Organizer

Participants with diverse backgrounds came to the conferences and were able to take part in lively exchanges of views. Jakarta Conference panelists were also invited from Malaysia, where the next international conference will be held. After observations in Tokyo, a partner organization requested that Shiseido’s corporate patronage activities be introduced in its own country, which is why Shiseido’s panelists will also speak at the Malaysia Conference in the next international conference in August. Conferences of this type lead to communication between corporations and partners. We were able to earn the trust of related persons and institutions with this grant from the Asia Center, a public institution, leading to cooperation and participation from public institutions at the Jakarta Conference. A major result was networking and collaboration with public institutions, which will help drive this project for spreading and encouraging corporate patronage in various countries.
