The Grant Program for Enhancing People-to-People Exchange

This program is designed to expand the bases for exchange and to promote understanding and friendship among people in Japan and ASEAN. Grants are provided to successful exchange projects at grassroots and regional level conducted by Japan-based organizations.

Eligible Applicants
Organizations based in Japan are eligible.
* Grants programs offered by the Japan Foundation’s overseas offices are available for applicants from ASEAN countries. Please contact the Japan Foundation’s offices in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia for more information.
Eligible Projects
Exchange projects at grassroots or regional levels which are conducted in one (or more than one) of the ten ASEAN countries or in Japan.
Grant Coverage
Maximum 1.5 million JPY
The grant can cover portions of the following categories.
1. Travel expense (international and domestic travel)
2. Accommodation
3. Venue and equipment use
Project Duration/Application Deadlines/Notification of Results
[First round]
Duration: Projects that take place between April 1, 2019 and March 31, 2020.
Deadline: No later than December 3, 2018
Notification of Result: April 2019
*For projects that are scheduled to start in April 2019, please note that Notification of Results may be sent after the project has already started.
[Second round]
Duration: Projects that take place between October 1, 2019 and March 31, 2020.
Deadline: No later than June 3, 2019
Notification of Result: September 2019
