From the Organizer

As a collaborative project between Singapore’s Esplanade and Japan’s Suntory Hall, creators including musicians, composers, and a broad genre of performers performed a theatrical concert “HIMIKO” (created by Suntory Hall), which served as a highlight of Super Japan, a festival held at the Singapore Esplanade commemorating 50 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and Singapore. It featured Singapore performers and enabled a great deal of exchange between the staff of each country, contributing to exchange between both countries. Furthermore, with collaboration between the National University of Singapore’s Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music and the Suntory Hall Chamber Music Academy, 2 performances were held in Singapore, and selected students from the conservatory performed in Suntory Hall’s chamber music garden, gaining the opportunity to perform in front of general audiences. Given this occasion, we intend to contribute to the development of music and culture in the Asian and Pacific region, including through future partnerships with the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. Receiving the grant has allowed a greater number of related persons to visit Singapore, achieving wide-ranging exchange with local performers and staff.
